As primary writers of the alternative rock band Causal Hearts, Andrew Ruiz & Chase Winters wrote hard hitting, aggressive and catchy songs filled with urgency and tales of heartbreak. As a stand alone duo, the two artists exhibit their versatility while tackling topics that range from pesky frenemies to racial inequality.

Island Boy blurs the lines between classic and indie rock with soaring guitar solos and memorable melodies throughout. The EP’s intro “Paper Hearts” sets the tone with its bright guitar and captivating vocals by Andrew and the project’s only feature KT Syd. “Aluminum” finds the duo mixing R&B into the fold, while the cheeky “Meredith” takes inspiration from folk and bluegrass.
